JPEG2000 is a video compression and decompression standard optimized for the highest quality of video and still images possible. JPEG2000 offers both lossy and lossless compression in a single codestream, making it a flexible choice for both high quality and high compression rate applications. StreamDSP has been engaged by several customers for help with JPEG2000 compression/decompression applications. We’ve built a set of scalable IP blocks capable of JPEG2000 processing inside an FPGA without the need for an external processor. Due to the high level of customization typically found in JPEG2000 applications we don’t currently offer a productized IP core but instead choose to offer our design services.
